A call to action

​

     We believe that companies can and MUST work differently. Our planet’s future is in peril, our natural environment is collapsing and its inhabitants are being exploited. The truth is, as a society, we’ve been following a false narrative. We have allowed ourselves to believe that consumers and companies are doing what they can and that the crisis is both too far away and too complicated for us to do anything about. This simply isn’t so.

Have Fun

     After all, we’re Deranged Chicken… let’s not lose sight of that! Our designs, artwork, products, and events will be above all, fun. The pursuit of happiness is our core objective, and that to us means fun, prosperity and a great environment to live in. Besides, what could be more fun than trying to change the world?

Be trustworthy

     Our community needs institutions that are trustworthy. We will be one such institution. Society is cynical because bad actors are real. They betray, mislead, misappropriate, and lie in the name of good but in pursuit of self interest. We will endeavor to make every action we take pure in intention and verifiably transparent.

Create things we can be proud of

     High Quality - We believe in making products we ourselves would want to have. They will be artful, useful and made from luxurious, long lasting materials that are beautiful to interact with.

     Environmentally friendly - Each of our products sold will have a positive effect on the environment. Although technologies and methods will no doubt evolve over time we will adhere to the ‘more good than harm’ mantra. To that end we will start not only by sourcing ethically and sustainably, but by maintaining a 100% carbon negative footprint. We will do so by purchasing double the carbon credits as our company and it’s supply chain emits. Each product we produce will therefore be carbon negative. The more we sell, the more carbon will be removed from the echo system. While we understand this in and of itself isn’t the complete solution, we believe that it’s a critical component and our responsibility to help restore our environment.

Don’t just sustain, Regenerate

     We believe that though admirable sustainability alone isn’t enough. Floating islands of plastic, rising sea levels, collapsing ecosystems dictate more aggressive action. We believe nothing new should be produced unless it reverses damage. Limiting further harm will only maintain the status quo. Imagine if every product produced removed more carbon from the atmosphere than it caused? Imagine if its production added to habitats, imagine if it cleaned our oceans. We believe this is not only possible, but necessary.

Progress over perfection

     We acknowledge that we are not perfect. We believe progress is achieved in the pursuit of excellence and to that end we will engage the community in the conversation. We will listen to feedback and we will evolve our processes, practices, products and our company in that pursuit.
